This antique Mora clock comes from the North of Sweden where the Mora clocks were characterised by their tall height and detailed paint patterns.
This clock is painted in its original matt black colour which shows signs of wear consistent with its age. The hand painted floral detailing is in a gold colour and has been beautifully painted. This detailing is original to the clock.
The clock was made by "Olof Barkman" who has added his name to the face as well as the town where the clock was made ('Linkoping').
The clock has its original mechanism which is in working order (see video link) and has a double chime on each hour. The mechanism is of high quality and the clockmaker has placed a viewing window at the sides of the clock to shiwcase the mechanism when working. Viewing windows are fairly rare for Mora clocks and indicate that this clock would have been originally made for a wealthy Swedish family.
